About Starfire

Starfire is a Bob Perry designed 1977 Islander 32 MKII.  We spent about 3 months covering the California coast from Sausalito to San Diego in search of the perfect boat. We finally settled upon Starfire and think that we definitely made the best possible decision in our price range.

The Islander 32 MKII Design

There’s a great article/review about the overall design from sailing magazine here. The cabin is beautiful and spacious with a teak/oak interior. The design has a solid reputation by most accounts, especially from a value perspective in this price range. It was featured in a book called “Twenty Affordable Sailboats to take you Anywhere“.
